Restorative Dentistry » Bonding
For Broken Teeth, Chipped Tooth or Fractured Teeth

What is it?
Bonding is the application of a tooth-coloured composite resin (plastic) to repair a decayed, chipped, fractured or discoloured tooth. Unlike veneers, which are manufactured in a laboratory and require a customised mould to achieve a proper fit, bonding can be done in a single visit. The procedure is called bonding because the material bonds to the tooth.

Restorative - Crown

Today’s crowns are far superior to the ones of old, looking and feeling very realistic. Crowns are usually fitted if you have a tooth that has been damaged by decay or accidental damage, and that is not strong enough to support any other type of restoration such as a filling.

The modern crowns that we use here at Adams Dental feel less bulky than the more traditional ones were, and no longer have an unsightly metal edge. They are made by skilled craftsmen in dental laboratories, and are precisely matched to the translucence, colour and contours of your other teeth to look completely natural.

Restorative Dentistry » Bridges

The false tooth is known as a ‘pontic’ and is fused in between two crowns that serve as anchors by attaching to the teeth on each side of the false tooth, thereby bridging them together.  Therefore it is necessary to have strong teeth either side of the space with good bone to support a bridge and be successful.

We will be able to assess this when you visit us.  A bridge can be made with a number of different materials, from a precious metal base with a layer of porcelain carefully bonded to this, to being all porcelain and of course the different materials will effect how long they last and the cost.

Restorative Dentistry » Dentures

Dentures have been used to replace missing teeth for many years. They are removable replacements that are designed to look and function like your natural teeth.
A complete or full denture is one that replaces all the natural teeth in either the upper or lower jaws. A partial denture fills the spaces left by lost or missing teeth. They can also be used alongside implants.

Restorative Dentistry » Implants

Dental implants are one option for replacing missing teeth. Quite often bridges and dentures are also recommended to replace missing teeth.

Unfortunately bridgework may necessitate having to alter healthy tooth tissue to accommodate for a bridge, thus weakening natural tooth further.

A denture is removable, and this is often bothersome to some patients. Due to poor fit, dentures may become unstable, leading to sores and discomfort.

This instability can also create a lack of confidence due to not knowing when dentures might embarrassingly slip out of place. Having assessed your particular needs, your dentist may recommend dental implants as a tooth replacement solution.
